Cowboy Refrigerator Magnets

These were carved on 1 1/2 inch square wood cut diagonal and 3 1/2 inch long. The i-phone is to recognize and focus on a face. It is interesting that it did focus on the one without the mustache and didn't on the others. It has on other carvings I did with a mustache. I like them all but it wasn't my favorite or my wife's.

Carved Cowboy

This carving is from a Myron Compton pattern. The cowboy is 6 1/2 inches tall. I like the big head with the small body. I had sawed out the blank over a year ago and decided to finally carve it. I need to work on some of these blanks sitting around my shop.

Cowboy Magnet

This cowboy face was carved from a 1 1/4 inch piece of basswood. I relieved the back side to glue in a round magnet. Although a basic outline of the wood is cut out, it's carved from a solid piece of wood. Any cowboy face can be carved in this inspired Hammack design.

Cowboy Magnet

This cowboy face is from one of Chris Hammack's designs. I bought his study cast and a blank from him. I did the eyes a little different and added a mouth. I don't know how he does his eyes but I'll find out next year when I take his class.

Cowpoke

This carving of a cowpoke is from a rough out that is 11 inches tall. The base is from a piece of counter-top that has speckles that look somewhat like rock. He is painted with acrylics and a satin lacquer finish.

Cowgirl

This cowgirl was from a rough-out. The wood was dried out and hard to carve. I wasn't to happy the way the face turned out. I didn't go in much detail as I would like because of the wood. I like the paint job, so not everything is lost.  Anyway this gal is ready to go dancing.
