Cowboy Refrigerator Magnets

These were carved on 1 1/2 inch square wood cut diagonal and 3 1/2 inch long. The i-phone is to recognize and focus on a face. It is interesting that it did focus on the one without the mustache and didn't on the others. It has on other carvings I did with a mustache. I like them all but it wasn't my favorite or my wife's.

Go Zag's

This bulldog is carved from 3/8 inch thick basswood as refrigerator magnets. The bulldog is the mascot for Gonzaga. We follow their basketball team every year. I carved the bulldog for gifts for my wife and a couple of friends. I took the picture of the three bulldogs on the refrigerator. It showed my reflection in the picture, so I took it again on the side of the refrigerator. When I enhanced the picture it gave me these neat background colors.

Cowboy Magnet

This cowboy face was carved from a 1 1/4 inch piece of basswood. I relieved the back side to glue in a round magnet. Although a basic outline of the wood is cut out, it's carved from a solid piece of wood. Any cowboy face can be carved in this inspired Hammack design.

Cowboy Magnet

This cowboy face is from one of Chris Hammack's designs. I bought his study cast and a blank from him. I did the eyes a little different and added a mouth. I don't know how he does his eyes but I'll find out next year when I take his class.

Moose

These are two carvings using Girards holiday designs. It's snowing here so the moose is still wearing his holiday garb. A little humor for a winter day when I'm shoveling snow. I did a different eye than the drawing. These are fun to carve and they will capture attention. The kids just love them.

Merry Christmas

My family and I wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year. I started carving a bark ornament  much like the ones in the Dec. 2 post. The bark kept  breaking off of the back, so I carved it flat. I could of kept it as an ornament or a pin, but instead I glued a magnet on the back and it's on the refrigerator. I also carved a reindeer out of basswood as a refrigerator magnet. The wood has a bad spot on the back, but it looks OK. Just the nose and feet are painted. These are quick and fun Projects.
