Rook

The Rook is sometimes called the Castle which I have called it. Reading history it was call a tower and it might be called that in some parts of the world. I carved the Rook as a chimney at 4 1/2 inch tall. Of coarse we know santa didn't come down the chimney to deliver toys, but the stories and songs delight us at Christmas.

Pawns

The beginning of the year I started carving a chess set. The pieces are based on the Christmas story. The pawns are 1 1/4 inch square by 4 inches tall. Both sides are the same except for the colors. One side is red and the other side is green. Carving so many pawns the faces have different looks. As the story goes these would be the helpers building toys for Santa to deliver on Christmas eve.

Troll

While sitting around at the campground I started to carve this 4 inch tall Troll. I didn't like how it looked, so it was campfire wood. I started another one and corrected my mistakes from the first one. It was a challenge for me and I'm happy with the result. It has a finish of Danish oil.

Tear Drop Santa

Leroy gave a class on this Tear Drop Santa at West Glacier. It is 3 1/2 inch tall by 2 by 2 inches. I cut the wood round on three sides. I carved the tear shape leaving the square side for the face. Draw an oblong circle and carve in the face. I intend to carve several for this Christmas season.
